What VereTel is, and is not, for lead generators
VereTel is call tracking. You get tracking numbers, each labeled with a source, that forward to a line you choose. A desk logs every call with the number dialed, caller number, status and duration.
What it does not do matters if you are used to pay-per-call software:
- It is not a pay-per-call marketplace. VereTel does not sell your calls, match them to buyers or bid on them.
- It has no buyer routing and no ring pools. Each number forwards to a single line.
- It has no call menus, no whisper messages and no time-of-day routing.
- It does not bill your buyers or compute payouts, and it exports no call data.
If you need a marketplace or routing to many buyers, VereTel is not that tool today. If you need to know which of your campaigns and pages produces calls, it is.
Tracking by campaign and landing page
A lead generator’s unit of analysis is the campaign. Assign a number to each campaign, each traffic source and each partner offer, and label it. Landing pages get their own numbers, either by publishing a different number on each page, or by adding one script and letting number insertion swap the registered number on the pages you choose.
Insertion works per site and per page. It does not give a different number to each visitor and it does not tell you which keyword was searched. For a lead generator that means answering “which landing page for which offer performs”, not “which keyword”. Being honest about that limit is better than a report that implies more.
Own agency or partner traffic
The set-up depends on who answers the calls.
- You answer them. Forward each number to your own line and review answered and missed calls per campaign in the desk.
- A partner answers them. A number can forward to the partner’s line. If the partner is a client of yours, the calls appear in your desk with that number’s label. Agree in writing with the partner who owns the number and the data.
- Several partners. Use a number per partner, since one number cannot split calls between lines.
The desk gives you the counts and durations you can use in a conversation with a partner about volume. It does not produce invoices or shareable reports today, and reports are coming, with no date. If you manage several clients’ numbers, see data separation for how each account’s data is kept apart.
Cost per call for your own spend
Whether the calls are billable to someone else or not, your own ad spend has a cost per call, and you can work it out from the desk: spend on the campaign divided by calls on its number. Use the ROI calculator and read attributing calls to ad clicks for the limits of what a number can prove. Number counts start at 1 on Solo and rise to 25 on Scale. Numbers are not on sale yet. Create a free account and ask to be told when they are.
Common questions
Is VereTel a pay-per-call platform?
No. VereTel does not buy, sell or route calls to buyers, and it does not run bidding or payouts. It provides tracking numbers, forwarding to one line per number and a desk that logs each call.
Can one tracking number send calls to several buyers?
No. Each number forwards to one line, and there are no ring pools or routing rules. To split traffic between buyers, use a separate number for each.
Can I track calls by landing page?
Yes. Number insertion can assign a different registered number to each page or site you choose, and each number is labeled in the desk. It works per page, not per visitor or keyword.
