One number per source
Most businesses publish one phone number everywhere, so every call looks the same when it arrives. Was it the Google campaign, the Facebook ad, the postcard or the website? A tracking number answers that question before anyone picks up.
You decide what counts as a source. A typical set-up looks like this:
- one number for each paid search campaign, such as one per service or product line you advertise;
- one number for social ads, or one per audience if you run several;
- one number printed on each mailer or print run, so a mail drop can be judged on its own;
- one number for your website, or one per landing page if you use number insertion.
Each number carries a label, such as “Google Ads · Services”, and that label appears next to every call in your desk. You can see which source a call came from without asking the caller.
You choose the number, we buy it
When you choose a number, VereTel buys it on its own carrier account and sets the forwarding to the line you chose; you label it with its source. You do not need a phone contract, a new phone system or a telecom account of your own. Your main number stays exactly as it is; tracking numbers sit in front of it, not in place of it.
When you need another number for a new campaign, you add it in your account (Starter, Growth and Scale; Solo is one number) and it appears in your desk from its first call.
Numbers are not on sale yet. Create a free account and ask to be told when they are.
Local numbers, and toll-free on request
The numbers in VereTel’s plans are local: you choose the area code, where one is available. A local number reads as local to the people who see it, which suits a business that advertises in its own area.
If your campaigns need a toll-free number, for statewide or national advertising, toll-free numbers on Starter, Growth and Scale are on request: tell us on the Talk to us form and we will tell you plainly what is possible.
How many numbers you need
Count the sources you want to compare, not the ads you run. If two ads should be judged together, they can share a number. Our plans include 1 (Solo), 3 (Starter), 10 (Growth), 25 (Scale) local numbers. An extra number is $5 a month on Starter, Growth and Scale. Solo is one number: for more, choose a larger plan. See pricing for what each plan includes.
What tracking numbers do not do yet
Tracking numbers count and forward calls. They do not record calls or send text messages. Call recording and transcription are coming; until then, nothing about the conversation itself is captured by VereTel.
Common questions
Do I have to change my main phone number?
No. Tracking numbers forward to the line you already answer. Your main number keeps working exactly as before.
Whose account are the numbers on?
The tracking numbers sit on VereTel’s carrier account while you are a customer. We handle the carrier side so you do not have to.
What kind of numbers do I get?
Numbers are local, in an area code you choose where one is available. Toll-free numbers on Starter and up are on request: talk to us, and we will tell you what is possible.
What happens to my number if I cancel?
It stays with you until the end of the month you have paid for, and for 7 days after that. Then it is released. Moving (porting) numbers out of VereTel is not offered yet.
Can I move my existing numbers to VereTel?
Not at launch. Moving (porting) existing numbers is not available yet. Tell us about the numbers you use today and we will discuss your plans.
