Call tracking features, explained plainly
VereTel does a small number of things, and this page describes each one plainly. Where something is coming rather than live, we say so.

Track and forward calls
Tracking numbers
A tracking number is a phone number that belongs to one source: one ad campaign, one mailer, one listing, one web page. When it rings, you know where the caller found you. VereTel gives your business local tracking numbers, in the area code you choose, and forwards every call to the line you already answer.

When someone dials one of your tracking numbers, the phone carrier forwards the call to your existing line. The phone network connects the call; VereTel’s software receives the call’s record, not the conversation.

People who find you through your website should call a number that tells you so. VereTel’s small script replaces the phone number on the sites and pages you register with the tracking number for that site or page, so website calls are counted apart from your other sources.

The desk
Each call to a tracking number becomes a record in your VereTel desk. Your team can see who called, which source they came from and whether anyone picked up, including the calls nobody answered.

Reports are coming to the VereTel desk. You do not have to wait for them to learn which sources make your phone ring: with one tracking number per source, every call in your desk already says where it came from.

Monitoring
Call tracking is only useful if every call is counted, and counted once. VereTel runs automated checks on its own call pipeline every minute, and alerts our team when something looks wrong.

VereTel is built to serve many businesses, some of which compete for the same customers. Each one has its own desk and sign-in, and the database itself keeps each customer’s calls apart from everyone else’s.

Does VereTel record calls?
Not yet. Call recording and transcription are coming. Today VereTel logs each call: when it came in, the caller’s number, which tracking number was dialed, whether it was answered and how long it lasted.
Do I need new phones or phone software?
No. Tracking numbers forward to the phone line you already answer, so calls arrive the way they always have.
Is there anything to install?
Nothing is required. If you want website calls tracked separately, you add one small tag to your site and register its pages in your account. We help if you ask.
