Call tracking guides for insurance agencies
Seven short guides on how call tracking works and how to use it, written for agency owners and the people who answer the phone. Each covers one idea and says where the limits are.

These guides explain call tracking in general first, then say exactly what VereTel does and does not do. If you want the product itself, start with features or pricing. Definitions of individual terms are in the glossary. Numbers are not on sale yet. Create a free account and ask to be told when they are.
The basics
Guide
What is call tracking?
Call tracking tells you which marketing source made a phone call happen. It works by giving each source its own phone number, forwarding every call to your normal line, and logging the call on the way through.

How DNI works
Dynamic number insertion (DNI) changes the phone number shown on a web page depending on the visit. There are two common designs, per-page and per-visitor, and they answer different questions. VereTel uses the per-site, per-page design.

Toll-free vs local numbers
Both kinds of number can be tracked, and both forward to your office line. The choice comes down to who you are advertising to, whether local familiarity matters, and whether you plan to text. VereTel’s plans use local numbers; toll-free on Starter and up is on request: talk to us first.

Attributing calls to ad clicks
Connecting a phone call to the ad click that caused it takes more than a tracking number. This guide explains the common methods, then says honestly what VereTel does: it attributes by number, per source and per page, and you can design campaigns so that is enough.

Measuring cost per call
Cost per call is the simplest way to compare paid sources once each has its own tracking number. This guide gives four formulas, a worked example with made-up figures, and the mistakes that make the answer look better or worse than it is.

Call tracking for ACA enrollment
Open enrollment compresses a year of phone calls into a few weeks. This plan walks an ACA agency through the steps to take before the season starts: dates, numbers, staffing, minutes and a weekly review. It is general information, not legal or enrollment advice.

Porting numbers without losing calls
Moving a phone number between providers is routine, but a careless move can drop calls for hours or days. This guide covers how local number porting and toll-free RespOrg changes work, and how to avoid gaps. VereTel does not offer porting at launch.

Are these guides legal advice?
No. Where a guide touches regulation or telecom rules, it is general information with sources listed at the foot of the page. Check the source and ask your own advisor before you rely on it.
Do the guides assume I use VereTel?
No. The general sections apply to any call tracking service. Each guide ends by stating what VereTel does and does not offer, so you can compare fairly.
